By Goh Jiayi Kyra, AWWA School @ Napiri
This artwork reflects Kyra’s joyful memories of spending time with her teachers and friends through different play activities. Inspired by her favourite experiences in school, Kyra brings each character to life using bright colours and expressive details. She thoughtfully named the characters after her teachers and friends, showing the importance of friendship, connection and shared experiences. Through these playful scenes, the artwork celebrates how play brings people together across different abilities, creating happiness and confidence within the community.
About
Diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Kyra began drawing at the age of five, using art as a way to express what she enjoys, observes and imagines. Over time, her teachers and family recognised her strong inclination towards creating colourful characters and playful scenes, often inspired by her learning experiences and everyday surroundings. Drawing has since become a meaningful form of self-expression for Kyra, offering her a space to share her thoughts, creativity and joyful spirit through art.
