This mixed-media artwork brings together paper cut-outs, acrylic, and watercolour paint to create a playful, sun-soaked pool scene. At its centre, a boy crafted from carefully cut coloured paper floats contentedly on a large inflatable ring in a bright blue pool, his collage-like, layered form giving him a distinctly handmade quality. His arms and legs are rendered as simple, slightly asymmetrical shapes that only add to the work's charm, lending the figure a sense of spontaneity and warmth. He lies back in a carefree posture, as though gently drifting across the water without a worry in the world.
About
Razik Ahamed, living with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), develops his artistic practice through school-based art lessons, where he explores a range of tools and techniques. With individualised adaptations and pacing, he is supported to learn at his own rhythm in a structured yet responsive environment. In class, emphasis is placed on experimentation rather than correction, allowing discovery to emerge naturally through process. Over time, this approach nurtures growing confidence and enables him to express himself more openly.
