Inspired by the colourful patterns and joyful spirit of Peranakan tiles, this artwork reflects memories of gathering with family and friends around shared meals, celebrations, and playful conversations. The vibrant fruits and lively leaves are arranged like pieces of a cheerful community coming together, each shape and colour adding energy and warmth to the scene. Through its bold forms and bright palette, the painting celebrates how creativity, and shared cultural traditions can connect people, creating moments filled with happiness and togetherness.

Matilda is an artist with Down Syndrome and a Congenital Heart Defect. Despite challenges in communication and learning, she expresses her imagination through drawing, colouring, and origami.

Through art, Matilda shares what brings her joy. With patience, care, and perseverance, she creates heartfelt works that reflect her cheerful spirit.
