Peekaboo!

"Peekaboo!" draws on the artist's lifelong love of hide-and-seek, a game that brings back fond memories of hiding, searching, and laughing with family and friends upon being found. A rabbit is tucked quietly among flowers and tall grass, sitting very still as though patiently waiting to be discovered, the soft colourful blooms becoming willing accomplices in keeping it hidden just a moment longer. Through this playful scene, the artist warmly invites the viewer to join in, sharing in the curiosity, the anticipation, and the simple, enduring joy of discovery.

Gary is an artist with a bright and determined spirit. Diagnosed with an Intellectual Disability, he faces significant challenges in both intellectual and adaptive functioning. Despite these challenges, Gary has discovered a deep passion for art, which has become a meaningful role in his life, supporting his confidence and self-expression. Limited in speech, he draws inspiration from zoos, gardens and parks, often reflecting the movement, colour and form of animals and plants in his vibrant artworks.
