Oh! I'm scared!

The artist imagined spotting a tiger peeking through vibrant, colourful foliage, his first instinct a breathless "Oh! I'm scared!", a delightful blend of surprise, and excitement. The scene recalls the particular thrill of stumbling upon something unexpected, much like the games he has always loved playing with family and friends. Through this work, the artist invites the viewer to share in that charged moment, the wide-eyed curiosity, the laughter that follows, and the playful tension that lingers in the air. A little fear, can become a bridge, bringing people together through shared wonder.

Gary is an artist with a bright and determined spirit. Diagnosed with an Intellectual Disability, he faces significant challenges in both intellectual and adaptive functioning. Despite these challenges, Gary has discovered a deep passion for art, which has become a meaningful role in his life, supporting his confidence and self-expression. Limited in speech, he draws inspiration from zoos, gardens and parks, often reflecting the movement, colour and form of animals and plants in his vibrant artworks.
