By Ken Alfarizqi Backsin, Rainbow Centre Singapore
In "Artist Hands - The Heartlands", Ken paints the towering apartment blocks of Singapore’s heartlands against a backdrop of surreal familiarity. Woven through the scene are unexpected yet deeply personal elements, a bowl of steaming noodle soup with tendrils of vapour curling into the sky, a bold fast food logo nestled among windows and corridors, and amorphous abstract shapes drifting like memories across the canvas. Each object, rendered with expressive brushstrokes and softened edges, evokes a sense of nostalgia and lived experience. What emerges is not just a portrait of a place, a cityscape filtered through memory, shaped by the objects and moments that quietly define home.

Ken channels his boundless energy and creativity into bold, expressive artwork filled with vibrant colours. His current style involves tracing overlapping hand poses to form organic shapes, embedding a literal part of himself into each piece.
