By Ken Alfarizqi Backsin, Rainbow Centre Singapore
"Artist’s Hands - A Shophouse" is a series of compositions by Ken, where intertwined hand poses are reimagined as organic forms that infuse each work with movement and meaning. In the first of the series, he presents Singapore’s iconic shophouse framed against a dreamlike backdrop of artists’ hands. These hands, layered and abstracted, drift across the sky like clouds, blurring the line between figure and landscape. Through this thoughtful fusion, Ken explores the connection between craft and culture, where the hands that shape art also shape the stories we tell.
About
Ken channels his boundless energy and creativity into bold, expressive artwork filled with vibrant colours. His current style involves tracing overlapping hand poses to form organic shapes, embedding a literal part of himself into each piece. What begins as a simple sketch transforms into a whimsical dance of forms, reflecting his unique perspective as someone who is diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). With each dynamic composition, Ken continues to evolve, building a vibrant and deeply personal artistic journey.
