By Asher Ng (Huang Hao), The Art Faculty
In "Pattern‑ception", the artist was inspired by the intricate designs of Peranakan tiles and the idea of patterns within patterns. Using watercolour, he layered details, allowing colours to flow and blend while maintaining structure and symmetry. He enjoys challenging himself with colour, exploring how tones work together to create depth and movement. The repeating shapes draw the eye inward, almost as if pulling viewers into another layer of pattern. Through this piece, he continues to refine technique, control, and expression.
