One of the last remaining playgrounds of its kind in Singapore, the iconic dragon playground in Toa Payoh stands as a beloved relic of a bygone era, a vivid, mosaic-tiled concrete dragon frozen in time the 1970s. Nicole's take on this iconic structure reflects its endurance as a powerful symbol of Singapore's kampung spirit and a reminder that national identity is sometimes built not from grand monuments, but from the memory of a child scrambling up a concrete dragon on a hot afternoon.

Nicole Koo is an artist with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) who specialises in watercolour painting. A Diploma in Fine Arts graduate from the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts, she is known for her nature-inspired works, particularly orchids. Drawing inspiration from regular visits to local gardens, she uses painting as a calming and reflective practice. Through her art, Nicole expresses a deep appreciation for nature and its beauty.
