Rhapsody in Orange

"Rhapsody in Orange" is a loose and expressive composition in which clusters of orange flowers emerge from a softly layered background of blues, greens, and yellows, their warm tones glowing against the cool expanse that surrounds them. The splotchy, painterly quality of the brushwork gives the work an impressionistic energy, as though the flowers have been caught in a moment of gentle movement rather than fixed in stillness.

About

Su An, an artist with Down syndrome, works primarily in watercolour and acrylic. She received her early art training through various courses organised by Very Special Arts Singapore (VSA Singapore), where her interest and confidence in art were nurtured. She enjoys painting flowers and scenes of Singapore, often using bright and vibrant colours to express her interpretations of familiar surroundings. More recently, she has also begun exploring abstract compositions, reflecting her growing curiosity and willingness to experiment within her artistic practice.
