Vase of Flower

This artwork gives the artist a form of carefree and peaceful feeling especially looking at the real life subjects of colourful flowers. It was an enjoyment to paint flowers. As an artist, I personally feel that painting flowers and looking at them make me feel so happy and when I paint I feel the whole world is just behind me. Moreover painting flowers give a chance to study the texture, the scent, and the form. So, painting flowers is one of my best option.

With an imaginative spirit, Aik Lan, who has a spinal cord injury, began her artistic practice at a young age and completed a Certificate in Painting in 1988, followed by a Diploma in Graphic Communications from the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA) in 1992. Her work reflects an interest in children’s literature and child psychology, shaping her distinctive approach to illustration. Her expressive oil painting series has been widely appreciated and extended to projects such as her oil-painted bag series with Very Special Arts Singapore.
