United - Even in a Bad Situation

This painting was born from a poem written by friends of VSA, one that finds stillness and hope within difficulty. The poem moves through silence, freedom, and the quiet of meditation, before turning outward to a world longing for normalcy and the relationships that endure regardless. Its refrain, "even in a bad situation," carries the work's quiet conviction: that learning, connection, and respect continue even in the hardest of times. The painting gives visual form to that spirit, translating the poem's gentle resilience into colour and image.

About

Eugene is a self-trained artist with a BA in Mathematics from the National University of Singapore. After an abnormal spinal growth led to multiple surgeries, he now lives with Paraplegia. Supported by family and friends, he returned to creative life and works as an impressionist artist, known for paintings of lightness, texture and calm. Guided by faith and a love of nature, he finds solace in painting while continuing to pursue mathematics through tutoring.
