This painting brings two Indian Ringneck parrots to life, their vibrant colours reflecting playful elegance. Inspired by the artist’s mother’s fondness for these birds, the piece offers a subtle alternative to the idea of adding more birds to their home, already alive with the lively chatter of a lovebird. Through this work, the artist celebrates the natural beauty and charm of the parrots, blending personal sentiment with nature. A fun fact: Male Indian Ringneck parrots develop a distinctive ring around their necks as they mature, a feature that sets them apart from the females, who do not develop this ring.

About

Ashley, a 17-year-old art student at Pathlight School, is passionate about teaching art and dreams of becoming an art teacher to inspire others with her love for painting techniques. Diagnosed with Global Development Delay at three years old, along with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)  and Dyslexia, Ashley has overcome these challenges to thrive as an artist. Through her work, she raises awareness about ASD, with a particular focus on painting animals and flowers. Ashley also enjoys creative hobbies such as crochet, embroidery, and paper crafts, often sharing her handmade creations with others.
